Levels of Support
The College Internship Program has expanded its services with the introduction of Levels of Support.

Students are able to move through the appropriate levels receiving the best services possible while moving toward completion of a degree at a local college or university, building a career, and learning to live independently.

To determine the appropriate entry level of assistance, CIP staff will assess each student during the admission process as well as each year thereafter.  While some students may stay at a level of support for more than one year, many students will move to lower levels as they acquire the skills and competencies necessary. Each student's movement is determined by their individual progress.

Entry levels one through four range from $37,000 to $67,000 (not including room + board, college classes and/or vocational courses).

Continuum of Support
Once a student progresses through any of the four entry Levels of Support, he/she has the unique opportunity to advance to levels five and six (part of our Continuum of Support). These levels offer more independence and a limited structure, while retaining the key supports needed for overall success at college or in the world of employment. Tuition on levels five and six range from $15,000 to $25,000.

Tax Deductibility: In accordance with IRS Regulation 1.213-1(e)(1)(v)(a) a medical deduction is allowed for the cost of tuition when a school meets the definition of a "special school" for physically or mentally handicapped individuals. The definition of a "special school" is a school where the primary purpose of the school is to enable students to compensate for handicaps in order to prepare them for future normal education and/or normal living.

The program at The College Internship Program meets this definition, as its primary goal is to assist students in earning a degree in college and with developing skills necessary for employment and living independently in the community. Applicants considering deducting the College Internship Program's tuition on their federal income tax returns should consult with a tax advisor on this matter.

Social Security Income: Program costs may be partially defrayed through S.S.I. payments that some students are eligible for. We encourage students to apply for these prior to admission.

Insurance Reimbursements: The College Internship Program, upon request, will provide a statement of clinical sessions to submit to insurance company for reimbursement.
